Estudiantes fought valiantly but were eventually denied by Barcelona, but Alejandro Sabella could not ask for more from his team.

Despite taking a first half lead, the South American champions could not hold on, eventually losing to an extra time goal. Speaking after the match, Sabella said, "The players gave everything."

"They were a team of 11 lions. We stopped Barcelona circulating the ball.

"They did not have the attacking possession they are accustomed to."

Sabella than paid tribute to both teams, continuing, "Barca has eliminated all their rivals one by one this year."

"They are the best side in the world.

"But Estudiantes gave them a good fight."
